In his death in 1695 Henry Purcell's semi-opera "The Indian Queen" was left unfinished. Director Peter Sellars and conductor Teodor Currentzis created in 2013 a new version of the work that interweaves Purcell colorful and expressive music with other secular and sacred works of the composer as well as excerpts from Rosario Aguilar's novel "The Lost Chronicles of Terra Firma". Everything will be moved from before the Spanish conquest in the era of the conquistadors and tells the story of the Indian princess Teculihuatzin who is a victim of his tyranny as a lover of the Spanish conqueror Don Pedro de Alvarado. Robert Castro created a concert version of this international co-production, which met at the Opera House Perm, at the Teatro Real Madrid and the English National Opera with great enthusiasm. Teodor Currentzis and MusicAeterna are with secure intonation and passionate devotion even guarantee an original, spirited interpretation! MusicAeterna choir and orchestra Johanna Winckel (soprano) Doña Isabel Paula Murrihy (soprano) Teculihuatzin Ray Chenez (countertenor) Hunahpu Jarrett Ott (Tenor) Don Pedro de Alvarado Thomas Cooley (Tenor) Don Pedrarias Dávila Christophe Dumaux (countertenor) Ixbalanque Willard White (baritone) Sacerdote Maya Maritxell Carrero (actress) Leonor Robert Castrorehearsal Seth Reiser lighting design Teodor Currentzis conductor
